PERFORMANCES Ltd

SAFE SPACE PERFORMANCES LTD is a not for profit organisation based in the Macedon Ranges who creates all ages, all abilities, socially inclusive gatherings and projects for people to explore and further their skills as performers, or to attend as supportive audience members, whilst strengthening their bonds in their community.

Since the beginning of lockdown 2020 we have added: ‘finding new ways to use technology and music to connect the community and combat social isolation’ to our mission statement.

SAFE SPACE PERFORMANCES LTD was conceived in 2019 by

Gabriel Macura in response to a need within the community for regular performance platforms for amateur and semi-experienced singers/performers of all ages and walks of life who wish to hone their skills in front of an audience without the usual pressures which can accompany a public performance.

The aim of the SSP gatherings is to simulate a 'professional' performance environment by providing high end sound engineering and sound equipment and structured staging and presentation expectations whilst actively supporting the performers and promoting a non-judgmental, prejudice free, safe space amongst the performers and audience alike.

SSP gatherings are open to people in the community who may

not yet have had an opportunity to perform as soloists elsewhere,

people who may have been away from the stage for some time

and want to 'find their feet again' or people who have never been

on a stage before and are looking for a development program and platform

to help build confidence and grow and nurture their performance skills.

In 2020, during lockdown, nine Safe Space Performances were

held on zoom. These performances gave the participants

something to look forward to and work towards in an

otherwise bleak year filled with cancellations and disappointments.

In 2021, SAFE SPACE PERFORMANCES LTD was honoured to have been chosen to participate in the Macedon Ranges Shire Council 'Creative Encounters' COVID Creative & Cultural Support program funding. Between April and July, SSP invited the Macedon Ranges community to participate in two workshops and one concert as part of this very successful event.
