Safe Space Performances was conceived in 2019 by Gabriel Macura due to a need for performance platforms for amateur and semi-professional singers/performers of all ages and walks of life who wish to gain experience and hone their skills in front of an audience.
The aim of the SSP gatherings is to provide a professional yet actively non-judgmental, prejudice free, safe and supported space for performers who may not yet have had an opportunity to perform as soloists elsewhere, or who are looking for a development program and platform to help build confidence and grow and nurture their performance skills.
In 2020, during lockdown, nine Safe Space Performances were held on zoom. These performances gave the participants something to look forward to and work towards in an otherwise bleak year filled with cancellations and disappointment.
In 2021, the Safe Space Performances group continues to grow and has proudly become a not for profit organisation.
